I recently filled up ‘Homemaker’ in a form which had a field called ‘Occupation’. And soon after I was asked “So what else do you do apart from staying at home and ensuring nutritious meals for your children”
“Actually nothing, just trying to do a PhD in Domestic Staff Management (and failing miserably). I also have a diploma in ‘Hair Management’ where we were taught how not to pull your hair if the “feeder” blows up, or internet connections fail to work just because there were droplets (better known as rain in Karachi) the previous night, or sui gas connections were blown up in Baluchistan.
In my break time I go from one grocery store to another, doing market research on the fact that why can I not get everything under one roof. I often hang out with shop vendors and the fruit waala and in my spare time (if I have any left) I try and do some ‘homemakery’ which involves looking after my offspring’s and their weekly deadly tests, social commitments and hanging out sessions.”
Zyaada bol gaye? Kya karoon control nahin hota
I mean c’mon, with such busy and hectic schedules who has time to stay at home and cook meals, leave alone nutritious ones. And before another crisis hits upon please let me share with you a recipe of Nutella Mousse. An incredible desert that comes together in no time especially when you have to entertain at home along with the rest of the ‘homemakery’ that you’re doing. Light, pillowy, airy the Nutella Mousse is made with a handful of ingredients yet gives you a mouthful of sweet chocolatey hazlenutty kick. Enough to keep you focused on your various daily chores.
