It would be a miracle if your car is not met with an accident ( Shubh shubh bolo beta shubh shubh) at Karachi’s one of the most well known intersections , pyaar sey called ‘Do Talwar.’
A crowded roundabout, merging traffic from the upmarket Zamzama, Defence Housing society, Old Clifton and Seaview is swamped less with cars and more with larger than life billboards. Currently a 360-degree view of ‘Do Talwar’ will give you surreal women displaying vibrant fabrics wrapped around sensuously, dreamy eyed and thick full ‘O’ shaped lips. If you do manage to not bump into the rickshaw ahead you can find a huge chocolate bar lurching at you or the highly unappetizing zinger with cheese oozing out. (Haw phir badtameezi?)
And should you get too excited there is a huge warning in big black bolds crying out loud ‘Avoid Corruption.’ Once you are done ingesting the next four Lawn exhibits, Sunsilk promoting shiny hair catches on you. Baee wah!
By God, please go and see for yourself the following display
Maria B Lawn
KFC Family Festival
Dullness gone, shine on – Sunsilk
And the topper is – A small white board flickering hope, and wailing away ‘ToLet’ …(kya picture abhee baki hai meray dost?)
And not to mention the 1256 (this is a modest estimate) adverts popping all over town screaming ‘Lawn.’ Thanks to be the Lord I am not a Karachi socialite otherwise my March calendar would be packed, with only attending Lawn exhibitions.
I’m beat (God promise) with so much happening in the city and can only revive energy with some easy to make Nutella Brownies. Quick to prepare, these little devils are moist, fudgy and unbelievably seductive (much more than those pouty lipped models on the billboards). So here goes, Nutella Brownies
