Bringing out the best (or the worst for that matter) in people is an art.
The paints and canvas, however always differ for different people. For instance, teachers’ students might draw out the worst and best in her. A homemakers’ domestic help can do the same for her. In the corporate world, your co-workers and colleagues perform a similar function. In a mothers’ world it can be her children. And then how can we forget our spouses and friends. In all likelihood the common factor would be those souls, whom you regard close to your heart that either shine or shun you. And in some situations there are entities that cause the same tsunami.
Recently Scotland Yard managed to create a situation in our part of the country, which brought about the worst in many people. The arrest of a political leader 3000 miles away caused thunder here. Instantly people lost their sanity, madness prevailed, gas stations became infested, grocery stores became packed, traffic jams spread around – the usual pedestrian became the mob and the general flurry of life turned into an ugly fury of the hour.
As the law and order situation declined in our vibrant metropolitan city, staying home bound was the only option. With my children and domestic staff (Imagine the shining and shunning that took place) the incessant challenge was to prepare a meal for my last episode of the Veggie Meals series. In short I had to make the best of the situation, choose herbivore ingredients from the pantry; and turn it around to the best of my ability into an appetizing episode. Reduced to the confines of my kitchen pantry I made a cold Noodle Salad with reduced balsamic vinegar dressing and olive oil. Brown rice, Quinoa or any other pasta can be used for this simple salad, olives, chopped tomatoes and mint leaves are dressed in olive oil and black pepper and tossed into pre prepared pasta. Drizzled with sweet, reduced balsamic vinegar and some more olive oil, this salad will set you off in a cool mood.
