Just when you are least expecting you are showered with warmth!
And such was the case when I was given a surprise party by ‘New’ group friends. The shock and surprise clamored together on a warm Sunday morning – when I walked into Pantry, a local café in K-Town. The invite was to join friends for breakfast at a rather insurmountable time of early morning which is better known as 10:30 am SHARP. I was instructed repeatedly by the mastermind behind this surprise to be on time. And as obedient as I am, I walked in 4 minutes earlier than the scheduled time.
Pink Balloons, flirtatious waiters and 4 smiling faces is what I saw – and instantly berated myself for not remembering someone’s birthday in the group. Between the time I walked in, made a mental note to apologize to the birthday girl till the time those smiling faces squealed ‘Happy Birthday’ – I went through quizzical snaps in my mind and a sharp skip of the heart beat which finally resulted in a hidden smile.
What followed was addition in the surprise givers, conversations which ranged from call of nature to naturally kind mother in laws to detox to cheesecake to omelets to parfaits but during this entire overwhelming episode my ‘new’ friends helped me etch a perfectly warm memory – for which I warmly thank them!
Coincidentally on the way out I got into a conversation with the owner of this quaint little café, who rather graciously offered me to try the restaurants’ Ciabatta bread – which I eagerly took, tried, tested and produced the following pull-apart bread for this blog. Slit into small cubes, however, not all the way down, loads of cheese and butter is stuffed down the alleys. The bread is then baked in the oven for a mere quarter of an hour – until it turns a warm golden brown. A complete family favorite – this can easily be served before or along your main meal.
