Songs and 'Happy" part I
December 5, 2014

With my new series of ‘Happy’ the moment I sat down to write (amongst kids’ exam preps, domestic issues, food photography for a client and bill payments) the song that instantly started playing in my mind was ‘Shiny Happy People’ by R.E.M, which raged on MTV back in the 90s. And then there was an instant flip like a jukebox playing ‘Saat Samandar Paar mein teeray peechay peechay aa gaye’ starring the late Divya Bharti which was again a hit 90s song.
Cute, smiling, size 8, Divya Bharti was hip and bust shaking with some Afrikaans in the background slow motioning to ‘La la la la la’ and then with an immediate jerky movement the song starts. Oh and I suddenly remembered another Govinda song which you might have heard “Mein sey meena sey na saaki se ,na paimaney sey, dil behalta hai mera aapkay aajaaney sey.” Twas quite a hit back then!
