An overcast day in Karachi is always a big deal. Brings a sudden comfort, a skip in the step, imaginary songs playing in the background, local café’s have a vibrant hum to them, children flock out to play and merriment is the weather of the hour!
We have an overcast today in our usual humdrum of a city but sadly the soul is missing. The national tragedy which befell over us just two days ago have left all of us bereft, vulnerable and exposed. The crestfallen nation is groping for answers, for comfort and for a promise – but the undeniable truth eclipses them all.
I was struggling to write for ‘Happy’ series, considering the lingering desolation and the word that came to my mind instead was ‘comfort.’ And that is the need and weather of the hour! We all need comfort, through words, hugs, tears and food!
With minimalistic effort, gigantic comfort can be derived from ‘Hot Chocolate’ although chocolate alone for me would do too (and ‘Hot’ is au natural :). Steaming cup of that intense chocolate melted with frothy milk and chunky marshmallows to dunk in – oh yes comfort for sure and slumber for some too. I suggest you try it too!
