How difficult is it to let go of people in your life? Some have the ability to walk out (as in literally) and then some are those who just slip away from you. Either way you can’t hold them back. Today as I sat down to write amidst a flurry of confusing thoughts my friend who slipped from my hands just a few years ago came to my mind and all of a sudden her cancer stricken life threw perspective back in my life.
Silly laughter gigs followed by emotional tearful dramas and then back to teen giggles that is what I remember the most about her. However the throaty full of life laughter could never take away the pain and sadness in her almond shaped eyes. She kind of always knew she was going to go – much before than all of us.
She told me not to worry about her anymore and then a few hours later she went away – in all honesty, pureness and contentment. Come to think of it, isn’t this what all we want in this life and hereafter…
When I was visiting her, her refrigerator was stumbling with all kind of yogurts, juices, salad leaves and all kinds of berries knowing my intense berry-love. And today when I was whipping up this simple recipe with yogurt and strawberries I was transported back in her artistically laid kitchen where I also baked scones for her.
This yogurt mousse is simple, but heavenly thanks to the addition of Nutella, and then a treat of crushed Oreos layered with tangy strawberries blitzed with some vanilla and honey. They are best served in small servings where you can see the beauty and enjoy the simple sensuality of this dessert.
