Sticky Toffee Scones (Inspired by Kate Middleton)
Ingredients (Serves 10-12 Royalties)
3 ⅓ cups Flour
⅓ cup Brown Sugar
3 tsp. Cream of Tartar
1 tsp. Baking Soda
¼ tsp. Cinnamon Powder
4 tbsp. White Butter
50 gm. Butter (Unsalted and cubed)
½ cup Dates (Chopped)
250 ml Milk
Blend together the flour, sugar, cream of tartar, baking soda, and cinnamon powder in a big bowl
Add in the chopped butters and roughly rub them in.
Tip in the folded dates
Make a well in the center and pour in all the milk all at once.
Work around the dough gently and do not over mix.
Flour the kitchen surface and rolling pin and roll out the dough to roughly 2 inch thickness
Cut out scones with a cookie cutter
Place the scones on a lined baking sheet, close to one another and brush with egg wash
Bake for 15-17 minutes in a pre-heated oven at 220 C (450 F) or until browned from the top
